Determined
individuals are capable of achieving unbelievable feats. Examples
abound in every field in India as well as other countries. Adversities,
disabilities and handicaps of any kind have not been able to prevent
the self-driven, highly motivated and determined individuals from
becoming great achievers. Quite obviously, even under the worst
of circumstances imaginable individuals can make a difference, provided
they continue to strive and never give up. So, determination is
the first step towards success.
Edger Guest succeeded largely because he always remembered the man
he wanted to become rather then the man he was. He once said: “In
my pocket, I kept a note of my vision, ambition and goal of what
I want to become in my life. I used to refer to it to reach higher
and higher.”
Human memory is very short. Sometimes we forget to do important
things and waste our time, or even whole life, in doing unimportant
and useless things. Keep a small note in your pocket of your vision,
ambition and goals (as to what you want to be in life) and refer
to it from time to time. It will keep on stirring your untapped
energy within you. Otherwise you may forget your goal and find pleasure
in worthless activities. This note will always keep you on your
toes and will not permit you to waste even a single minute of this
invaluable life. The life span gifted to us by Almighty should be
spent in useful activities in order to achieve success in life.
Charles M. Schwab, one of the richest men in the world, has become
a household name in the United State of America. With his hard-work
and vision, Schwab has become the most successful on-line stock-broker
and investment advisor in the last two decades. His firm has 360
offices in the USA and the highest turnover in the business of share-broking
in the world.
You will agree that you have to give 100% of your time and energy
to become a successful person and nothing is accomplished by half-hearted
approach. Great success requires great sacrifices. Sometime small
temptation may hinder your path and pull you down morally and legally,
but whenever you will refer to your note of higher goals in life,
you will rise above temptations. One illegal or immoral act done
in the past can bring down the most successful and powerful person.
Moreover, the sin of a wrong action will not let the person sleep
peacefully as he/

Ten
commandments of Charles M. Schwab’s success
|
| 1.
Work hard. Hard work is the best investment a man can make. |
6.
Have the spirit of conquest. Thus you can successfully battle and
overcome difficulties. |
| 2.
Study hard. Knowledge enables a man to work more intelligently and
effectively. |
7.
Cultivate personality. Personality is to a man what perfume is to
a flower. |
| 3.
Take initiative. Ruts often deepen into graves. |
8.
Help and share with others. The real test of business greatness lies
in giving opportunity to others. |
| 4.
Love your work. Then you will find pleasure in mastering it. |
9.
Be democratic. Unless you feel right to your fellowmen, you can never
be a successful leader. |
| 5.
Give the best to your work. Slipshod methods bring slipshod results. |
10.
In all things do your best. The man who has done less than his best
has done nothing. |
God to all of us. One should realise one’s potential and work with
single-minded devotion. Time and energy are the raw material of success
and hence these should not be frittered away. Conserve every minute
of your time and every unit of your energy for translating your dreams
into reality. According to vedas, energy (life-force) is obtained
from the following five sources:
(1) Food—pure, simple and vegetarian (2) Air — clean and fresh (3)
Sleep (4) Meditation, and (5) Knowledge. Human energy, or life force,
is wasted in the following ways:
• Wrong food. Fried vegetarian food, non-vegetarian food, smoking,
liquor and mind-altering caffeine and tabacco products. If food is
improper and incompatible, the physical functions of the body will
collapse).
• Wrong conditioning. By watching movies and television serials
showing violence, crime and obscenity.
• Lack of sleep.
• Lack of exercise and fresh air.
• Waste of thought. Bad company of negative and pessimist friends
and relatives, resulting in waste of energy in unproductive things.
Happiness and success is possible only if one is physically, mentally
and emotionally healthy. “Sound mind resides in sound body.” Fortune
favours the brave who are physically and mentally sound. A weak body
weakens the mind, which generates weak thoughts. And a weak mind is
full of negativite thoughts, fears, and pessimism — and is bound to
lead to failure on all fronts.
So, take charge of your life and shape it the way you want. William
James, the greatest psychologist of the 20th Century has said: “Everyone
can change his/her fate according to his/her thoughts.”

The Sparrow
Once upon a time there was a non-confirming sparrow who decided
not to fly south for the winter. However, soon the weather
turned so cold that he reluctantly decided to fly south. In
a short time ice began to form on his wings and he fell to
Earth in a barnyard, nearly frozen solid. A cow passed by
where he had fallen, and crapped on the little sparrow. The
sparrow thought it was the end, but the manure warmed him
and defrosted his wings ! Warm and happy, able to breath,
he started to sing.
|
Just then a large cat came by,
and hearing the chirping he investigated the sounds. The cat
cleared away the manure, found the chirping bird, and promptly
ate him. The Moral of the story : Eveyone who craps on you is
not necessarily your enemy. Everyone who gets you out of crap
is not necessarily your friend. And if you’re warm and happy
in a pile of crap, you can just keep your mouth shut. |
