Beautiful Minds - 'Wings of Inspiration'
Urvashi Kumar – A story of a woman who leads a normal life and believes in being financially independent.
Tell us about the journey that you have travelled so far since your childhood till date ?
My journey since childhood has been of a normal girl from a middle class family. At the age of 17 and a half , after my Senior Cambridge , I got married. After that I spent a year at Lakme Beauty House as I was always interested in Makeup and various other skin treatments. Then after having my first child at the age of 21 , I started calling ladies to my house by appointment for treatments. I continued working from home for the next 30 years according to my convenience. I also looked after my house and had two more children and lead a normal life.
What motivated & inspired you to get involved in your business of 'Modern Bazaar' ?
I was motivated to get involved in Modern Bazaar because I do not like to waste time here and there and like to be financially independent. Also I knew that if I don't work , I will get lazy mentally and physically. I have already fulfilled my responsibilities as a mother and grandmother and is in good health. After getting involved in Modern Bazaar , I am also learning and enjoying a lot and find it challenging.
According to you, what are the key aspects that can help an Indian woman to achieve professional and business success?
For an Indian woman to achieve professional and Business success , she should always keep it in her mind that she is not inferior to a man in any way and she has a right to make her own decisions. There should be an urge to do more in life than just having children , cooking , cleaning and running a house.
What is the greatest obstacle you had faced  in your entire journey ?
Luckily , I did not face any obstacle in my journey as my husband was very supportive and my family also encouraged me. My children have always respected me for my hardwork that I am still doing at the age of 69.
Do you manage your finances on your own and do you have knowledge of all your investments ?
Unfortunately , I donot have much knowledge about my finances.
Should women have financial knowledge and how much important it is for a woman to to be financially independent ?
Women must have financial knowledge and it is very important for them to be financially independent , only then will they be able to make their own decisions and live their life according to their own wishes.
What advice would you give to the young women entrepreneurs about being more organized and informed about finance management?
It is very important to be informed about finance management as you cannot persue any profession or business if you don't have this knowledge.
What is your success mantra ?
My success mantra is that I believed in myself and never thought that I was inferior to a man in anyway and always wanted to be financially independent.
