How we live our life now can make major differences in what happens to our health later. Nobody wants to be old, as old age is associated with diseases and dependence on others. So adopt a healthy life-style, think young and you will remain young.

Blood Pressure (BP) is a pressure generated in the peripheral channels (arteries) during contraction and relaxation of heart muscles, (systolic and diastolic). Blood pressure is measured at the level of the blood channel in the forearm and expressed as mm Hg systolic (upper) and diastolic (lower) BP. The average normal blood pressure is 120/80 in an adult. Some natural ways to lower blood pressure without medication is by combining the following diet along with other options; you can effectively reduce and cure high blood pressure (hypertension).

Here is the list of things that you need to include in your diet:

1. Orange Juice- Drinking a glass of any type of orange juice twice a day significantly reduces both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

2. Bananas- This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium and very low in salt, making it the perfect food to beat high blood pressure.

3. Beetroot (Chukandar)- Drinking beetroot juice a day can significantly reduce blood pressure. The key beneficial ingredient appears to be nitrate, which is also found in green leafy vegetables and helps in reducing high blood pressure.

4. Bottle gourd(Lauki)- Extensive research confirms that regular use of cooked bottle gourd, its soup or juice, is a useful food for people suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.

5. Garlic- One of the best known and most widely used in herbal medicine, Garlic, controls cholesterol and high blood pressure.

6. Olive Oil-Using olive oil while cooking food helps lower blood pressure. Olive oil contains oleic acid, which is a mono-unsaturated fatty acid, and polyphenols that help reduce the blood pressure.

7. Celery(Ajamoda)- Physicians have long used celery to dependably reduce high blood pressure.

Onion, Honey, Mustard Oil, Turmeric, Water Melon, Pineapple, Grapes, Green Tea, Tulsi, Oats, Saffron, and Soya Bean are other food ingredients with significant herbs that reduce and keep a check on your blood pressure level. Regular walk or exercise helps in maintaining blood pressure levels normal as physical activity strengthens the heart muscles. This helps in pumping out blood without exerting much pressure on the arteries. Yoga also helps to reduce blood pressure: Light Yoga Asana helps in bringing about a balance in the autonomous nervous system, a center that controls stress. Yoga helps in regulating blood pressure by stabilizing the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.

High blood pressure affects internal organs like heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. Blood pressure is elevated with anxiety, hostility, and anger and through excessive consumption of fat-rich diet. High blood pressure can also increase due to consumption of tea, coffee, alcohol and tobacco. It is important that natural ways are adopted to reduce the damage caused by high blood pressure. Sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise and obesity are also the reasons for high blood pressure.

Exercise helps in improving the condition of the heart, by making it pump more blood efficiently. Climbing stairs instead of using the elevator burns more calories and helps reduce high blood pressure. Some other methods used to reduce or cure high blood pressure are walking, meditation, deep breathing and healthy foods. When stress is reduced, the body's immune system gets a boost that also effectively reduces high blood pressure. Therefore, it is very important for us to have a holistic approach through exercise, meditation, yoga and a balanced diet which will help in maintaining a healthy life and also help in maintaining normal blood pressure.
